Job Details
Bartenders possess the same food, beverage, service, and leadership expertise as the Captains, yet they specialize in beverage service and solo dining. All Bartenders will perform their job with an eye for detail and absolute professionalism.
Restaurant Operations
- Control costs by taking accurate inventories, limiting waste, pouring drinks at proper levels, and ensuring all beverages go on the Guest check.
- Handle payment transactions for station. All handling of gratuities must take place out of public view.
- Be fluent in the use of the POS system.
- Have detailed knowledge of the menu. Stay abreast of menu changes.
- Have knowledge of the wine list and be able to pair wines by the glass with menu items.
- Have solid knowledge of liquor, know the origin and general characteristics of each brand.
- Help Bar Manager conduct regular physical inventory of all alcoholic beverages.
- Perform assigned side work.
- Opening bar procedures.
- Closing bar procedures.
- Adhere to your work schedule.
- Adhere to the restaurant grooming, uniform, and hygiene standards.
- Serve alcohol responsibly.
During Service
- Take all Guests’ orders as necessary.
- Execute well-made cocktails.
- Provide food service detailed in service manual.
- Understand thoroughly and articulate with enthusiasm the details of menu, wine list and cocktail program.
- Anticipate needs of the Guest and exceed their expectations.
- Take the extra step to turn good service into great service and make it an experience each Guest will remember.
- Serve as the identifiable representative of food, beverage, and warm atmosphere.
- Supervise the Bar Back, overseeing all cocktails made in service station, par levels, and general cleanliness.
- Minimize breakage with proper handling of glassware.
- Clean and maintain your work area at all times.
- Act professional and accommodating and always maintain your composure.
Communication
- Be aware if a Guest is unhappy while he/she waits for a table and notify the Manager.
- Know how and when to provide information that the Guest needs tactfully and with confidence.
- Communicate all low stock counts and 86’ed items with Manager and floor staff.
- Communicate with Bar Back to restock liquor, ice, etc.
- Identify and report any problems to management immediately.
- Be able to answer general questions about Us, from restaurant hours to reservation policies.
Requirements
- Meet minimum age to serve alcohol
- Flexible availability to work nights, weekends and holidays
- Positive, engaging personality and professional appearance
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to communicate well with different team members
- Strong time management abilities
- Good understanding of spirits and liquors as well as bar tools and equipment
- Ability to stand, walk for extended periods and lift up to 25lbs
- High school diploma
- Any additional education, training, certificate is a plus
Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly ($17.27) plus tips
Estimated Weekly Tips: $1,250
