Job Overview

Overview: 

The Pastry cook performs the daily execution of all assigned kitchen food production and service execution for the PM,  in connection with desserts while establishing and maintaining standards in the areas of food quality, timelines of food, presentation & cleanliness.

Due to the nature of our business, this position requires us to work weekends and holidays.

 

General Duties and Responsibilities:

Under direction of the Executive Pastry Chef this individual will be responsible for effectively supporting all culinary operations.

 

  •  Must maintain a friendly, positive attitude and a professional demeanor always.
  •  Directs, implements, and maintains a guest service and management philosophy that serves as a guide to respective team members.
  •  Meets with Executive Pastry Chef & Sous Chef to review assignments, anticipated business    levels, changes, and other information pertinent to job performance.
  •  Ensures that only the highest-of-quality product is served to our guests.
  •  Strong baking and pastry skills.
  •  Must be willing to work hours that vary, according
    to posted schedule.
  •  Must be able to remain calm under stressful situations.
  •  Must be able to generalize, evaluations, and decisions without immediate supervision.
  •  Must be able to accept and carry out responsibility for directions.
  •  The ideal candidate will have a pastry degree or have graduated from a certified apprenticeship program with a minimum of 2-3 years pastry  experience in high end luxury hotel or fine dining restaurant.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment.
  •  Strong commitment to delivering a high level of customer and client service with demonstrated initiative.
  • Customer service oriented with the ability to interact with all levels of management.
  • Must be flexible to work extended hours due to business requirements including late nights, weekends, and holidays.
    Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Good level of organization and attention to detail.

 

Practice safe work habits, follow all safety policies and procedures and regulations, complete company-wide safety training and any additional job specific safety training.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Previous experience as a pastry cook or relevant role.
  • Strong knowledge of dessert and pastry techniques.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to lift 25/50/. pounds when required.
  • The ability to respond quickly to sounds and Hotel alarms.
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations timely.
  • The ability to come to work in extreme weather.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($25.00 – $27.00)
